Lyre-legged table, 18th century Spain
Spanish table of the so-called lyre legs with iron fasteners, 18th century. The tabletop is notable for being made from a single piece of wood, with carved edges.
This type of legs, called lyre legs because of their resemblance to this musical instrument, were widely used during the Renaissance, and continued to be used later due to the movement that their curved profiles gave to the piece of furniture.
