A large tree forms the central motif of this pictorial landscape over a field, whose arrangement and compositional presence make the rest of the elements participating in the work depend on it. Thus, next to its trunk is a standing man, a seated woman and a black dog; under its shelter and shade stands a country house; on the other side, two people walk away towards a wood and a clearing towards the horizon.

The canvas retains its original frame, made of carved wood and gilded paste. The work, which underwent minimal restoration in 2000, has no signature or inscription. The elements that make up the painting (canvas, stretcher and frame), together with its pictorial execution, lead us to believe that it is a European work, possibly French, from the second half of the 19th century.
