Leonid Vladimirovich Soifertis (1911 - 1996)

A corresponding member of the Academy of Arts of RSFSR (from 1966). People’s Artist of RSFSR (1982). A graphic artist. Studied in Kharkiv Art Institute (1928 - 1930), on the department of advanced training for artists of Moscow State Art Institute named in honor of V.I. Surikov. Was the student of A.A. Radakov, P.I. Lvov, M.S. Rodionov. Worked with magazines «Смена» (Smena) «Огонек» (Ogonyok) «Крокодил» (Krokodil, from 1934). The author of the series «Севастопольский альбом» (The Sevastopol album, 1941 - 1942), «Спорт» (Sport, 1967 - 1970), «Новые районы Москвы» (New districts of Moscow, the 1970-s). The author of genre scenes, a cartoonist, an illustrator. The participant in multiple exhibitions. Personal exhibitions of Soifertis were held in Leningrad, Belgrad (1967). His works are kept in the State Tretyakov Gallery and the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts. Soifertis’s works are exhibited in many private collections both in Russia and abroad.
