Henry Ossawa Tanner, American, French, 1859 to 1937, oil painting on canvas depicting a scene with a flock of sheep and a seascape view. Signed lower right. Framed. Henry Ossawa Tanner was an American artist who spent much of his career in France. He became the first African American painter to gain international acclaim. Tanner moved to Paris, France, in 1891 to study at the Academie Julian and gained acclaim in French artistic circles. He is known for Painting-religious, Orientalism, genre, figure, landscape. African American Fine Art, Landscape and Seascape Paintings, Wall Art, and Collectibles. One of a kind artwork.
