"הוכחה לגן עדן, רב-המכר העולמי ומעורר המחלוקת של ד"ר אבן אלכסנדר, מסעיר מאז צאתו את קהילת הרפואה בארצות הברית ואת ציבור הקוראים בעולם. בספר מתאר אלכסנדר – נוירו כירורג וחוקר מוח מהארווארד, שהיה רוב חייו מדען ספקן ורציונלי – חוויה על-טבעית שעבר. ב-2008, בעקבות חיידק אלים ונדיר שפגע במוחו, הוא שקע בתרדמת עמוקה, ולמעשה חווה מוות מוחי, והרופאים לא האמינו שנותר לו סיכוי לשוב לחיים. אך לאחר שבעה ימים הוא התעורר, החלים וסיפר לבני משפחתו סיפור מדהים: הוא היה בעולם הבא, והחוויה שעבר היא-היא ההוכחה לכך שגם כאשר המוח לא פועל – חיי הנשמה לא מסתיימים.
