F. Richardson Murray (early 20th century) Watercolor on paper, Signed Lower Left, Measures (7 x 13 inches) w/frame ( 13 x 18 inches ) Frank Richardson Murry was my Uncle Frank, professionally known as F. Richardson Murray and was primarily known for portraits painted in pastel. He studied at Stevenson's School of Art, Pittsburgh, PA.; Carnegie Institute, Pittsburgh, PA, Art Student's League, New York City; Vesper Lincoln George School, Boston; and at Beaune, France under the auspices of the Sorbonne. He exhibited at the Art Institute, Chicago; Carnegie Institute, Pittsburgh; Philadelphia Academy; Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington; Boston Museum of Art, and Knoedlers, New York, Newport. Portrait commission patrons included: A.W. Mellon, W.L. Mellon, Ann Harding, Hervey Allen, N.B.T. Roney, Albert Shaw, Walter Chrysler, Dr. John Harvey Kellogg, Lady Augustus Nanton, Judge Joseph Buffington, and the Hon. Frederick W Mansfield. He was associated with Vanderbilt Studios in New York, and had a year round residence in DeLand, Florida.
