Antique c1870 Flying Geese Quilt PA
Antique c1870 Flying Geese quilt from Pennsylvania, measuring 79" x 88". The geese are arranged in 6 vertical bars, 5.5" wide, with 6" wide strips of a double green print with 6.5" double green print borders along the top and bottom. It is hand pieced and minimally hand quilted. There is thin cotton batting and a brown print reverse. The edges are finished with the back brought to the front and applied by hand. Fabrics include many fabulous browns, madders, a centennial green, shirtings, and more. This quilt has a label on the reverse from the 1990 quilt round up from the Goschenhopen Historians Inc. In very good condition with just a few small spots and minor fading in the double green. This quilt is part of the Living Estate of widely respected Sharon Stark of Sharon's Antiques Vintage Fabrics and Textiles of Eastern PA. She was an author and long time collector and dealer of antique quilts, fabrics and textiles. Sharon is the authority on Feedsacks, and you may remember her Rickrack website.
