2 Antique Edwardian/Turn of the Century Hats. The group includes 1 very large black (possibly horsehair braid) antique cartwheel hat featuring a thick metal wire frame and large front facing black glass medallion embellishment. The braid is applied to the brim in a graduated overlapping scalloped design and the braid on the top of the hat is applied in an overlapping swirl pattern. The underside of the hat has 3 bands of softer black braid sewn together and a fine black cotton lining on the inner crown with a long cord for wrapping around the voluminous hairstyles of the period. The maker of the hat is unknown. The hat is in fair condition with the front medallion coming unsewn, general mis-shaping of the wire frame, and several areas where the metal wire frame has worn through the braid. 1 antique black braid body and blonde straw braid hat featuring a wide upturned brim and a large double branch of leaves with the stems made of fine net fully beaded in black glass seed beads with large early plastic black spangles. The hat has a metal wire frame and a black velvet front inner band. The hat has a 19'' inner diameter, 3 3/4'' wide brim, and the V shaped branch embellishment is 8'' long. The maker is unknown. The hat is in poor condition with the blonde straw braid breaking down, rust on the metal frame, small tears in the black braid with the metal frame showing, and losses to the beading on the large branch If you have any doubt, please ask questions!
