Antique c1870 Touching Stars Quilt from PA. It measures 80x80 inches. it is comprised of 9 Stars of Bethlehem measuring 21.5 x 21.5 inches, set straight, 3 by 3, with double blue or Lancaster blue setting squares, triangles, and 7 inch border. It is hand and machine pieced, and hand quilted. There is a thin batting and a brown weave print reverse. The edge is finished with the front brought to the back, and applied by hand. There is a sleeve attached with safety pins on the back along the top of the quilt and signed by Bobbie Aug. It is in good condition with just a few small spots. This quilt can be seen on page 53 of "Vintage Quilts" co-authored by Bobby Aug. From the Estate of Bobbie Aug. Bobbie Aug was a well known and regarded quilt historian, author, appraiser, and quilter for over a half a century. She was also an antique quilt dealer and quilt store co- owner and judge. Most notable is her work on the American Quilter's Society Quilt Appraiser Certification Committee and her early involvement in the Professional Association of Appraisers-Quilted Textiles.
