Antique c1860 Touching Stars Quilt measuring 74 by 76 inches. It is comprised of 9 touching stars, about 20 by 20 inches, set straight, 3 by 3, with white setting squares and triangles. There is a 7 inch border on all 4 sides with a unique cable or chain motif in the same colors as the stars: blue, red, green. It is hand pieced, hand appliquéd, and hand quilted. There is a thin cotton batting and off white cotton reverse. The reverse may be a homespun fabric. The edge is finished with and applied blue binding by hand. It is in fair condition with several small spots and minor wear to the binding. There is a sleeve for hanging attached to the back along the top of the quilt. From the Estate of Bobbie Aug. Bobbie Aug was a well known and regarded quilt historian, author, appraiser, and quilter for over a half a century. She was also an antique quilt dealer and quilt store co- owner and judge. Most notable is her work on the American Quilter's Society Quilt Appraiser Certification Committee and her early involvement in the Professional Association of Appraisers-Quilted Textiles.
