The first issue of 'Davar' Newspaper - June 1, 1925
"The Daily Newspaper, whose first issue is presented to you here, is a work of spirit and the product of the labor movement's efforts in the country" - the first issue of the newspaper "Davar" June 1, 1925.
In the issue entitled "Davar - The Workers' Palestine Newspaper", the opening article "To Our Readers" by the newspaper's founder, and its only editor - Berl Katznelson, in which he details: "One clear, definite desire is pulsating in this movement that concentrates on the Histadrut: to flee and escape the people from the life of infamy, parasitism, extortion and bondage". Under the heading "For Our Newspaper", the publisher announces the Executive Committee: "Today, the General Histadrut of the Hebrew Workers in Israel is credited with seeing the resolution of its second conference on the publication of a daily newspaper of the workers of Israel ...".
The issue includes, among other things: 'Congratulations on the appearance of 'Davar' with an important personal signature, an article by SJ Agnon, 'Letters from Poland', advertisements and more.
At the time of the settlement, when the Labor Movement for its parties, headed by Mapai for the first time, led the settlement, and the Histadrut was a top class, "Davar" was seen as the expression of the leadership of the community. especially among the working-class settlers who saw it as their issue.
