Rescue and She'erit Ha-Pleita in Belgium. Brussels 1947 - Photographs
קאמף און ווידעראויפבוי אכט יאר טעטיקייט פון דער "יידישע סאלידאריטעט" אין בעלגיע - War and Reconstruction - Eight years of solidarity activity in Belgium - a unique booklet reviewing the rescue activities of Belgian Jewry during the Holocaust, and the fate of Holocaust survivors, accompanied by rare photographs. Brussels 1947. Yiddish. No publisher name.
An early booklet published in Belgium after the Holocaust and reviewing the fate of Belgian Jewry during the Holocaust began with the German invasion of Belgium in October 1940, the antisemitic laws enacted by the German military government, the burning of synagogues, and the escalation in 1942 as part of the final solution. The booklet places special emphasis on rescuing Belgian Jewry in the form of the hiding of thousands of Jews among Gentiles - priests and Catholic nuns, as well as the assistance provided to them by organized resistance, such as the Committee for the Protection of Jews in Belgium - CDJ - which provided food and shelter for hiding Jews. And about many Jews who hid and joined the armed resistance. (In April 1943, CDJ members attacked the Twentieth Transport to Auschwitz and managed to rescue some of the deportees). A significant part of the booklet deals with the fate of the Holocaust survivor on Belgian soil and is accompanied by rare photographs.
