JEWISH ART is an annual publication of the Center for Jewish Art of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. The only scholarly periodical in its field, it is also intended for art connoisseurs and laymen-in fact, for everyone interested in Jewish art and its interrelation with world art. The aim of JEWISH ART is to bring out and discuss this relationship, with a view to advancing knowledge and understanding of a rewarding and exten sive subject. Since the publication of its first issue, in 1974, JEWISH ART has been enthusiastically received by scholars throughout the world, not only by those involved in the study of Jewish art, but also by others in related disciplines such as archaeology, folklore, history, comparative litera- ture, history of religion, and anthropology. The year 1987 brings the thirteenth anniversary of JEWISH ART and is marked by the publication of a double volume in honour of the sixtieth birthday of the founder of JEWISH ART, Professor Bezalel Narkiss. This special issue, Number 12/13, contains 372 pages, 350 illustrations, and 40 colour plates. It is printed on 115 gramme chrome paper and is casebound.
