A PERSIAN ENGRAVED STEEL BOX WITH SILVER AND GILT INLAY, 19TH C.
A rare Persian, Qajar Period iron box entirely covered with engraved decoration forming a characteristic Persian floral motif, calligraphy and human figures in cartouches. The box is made of hand-forged iron embellished with silver and gold inlay.
Iran, 19th century.
14 x 8 1/4 x 5 in., (35.6 x 46.5 x 13 cm.)
Condition: The box is in very good condition. The inlya is well-preserved. The original key is missing.
