A GILT BRONZE OIL LAMP IN THE SHAPE OF A GREEK SATYR BUST, 19TH CEN.
A gilt bronze oil lamp in the shape of a Greek satyr bust, set atop the foot of a bird of prey. The wick of the lamp would sit within the mouth of the satyr, while the oil itself would be deposited inside the head through an opening at the top which is capped by a hinged lid styled as the crown of the head.
19th Century.
Dimensions: 8 1/2 in., (21.6 cm.)
Condition: Good overall, with a pleasant patina. The hinge is well attached and functional.
