Pro-Palestinian stamps - Democratic Republic of Sudan: 1977 issue set of 3x Sudanese Piastre denominated stamps (Mi SD334-6) in support of Archbishop Hilarion Capucci (in Arabic & English), MNH (the 2½ issue has a patch of light dirt on the front). Capucci was a Syrian Catholic bishop who who served in Jerusalem from 1965 to 1977; arrested by Israel in 1974 for smuggling weapons to the Palestine Liberation Organization; released and expelled to Rome in 1977. These stamps were issued on the 4th anniversary of his 8 August 1974 arrest, 3 months prior to his release on 6 November 1977.
