ABBOT SICARD: (1742-1822) Roch-Ambroise Cucurron Sicard. Head of the deaf-and-dumb Parisian school. A.L., one page, 4to, Paris, 23rd May 1801, on the printed stationery of the Director of the National institution for deaf-and-dumb since birth, to citizen Bérenger, professor of eloquence at Lyon, in French. Sicard thanks his correspondent for his kind word, and states in part `..thank you for keeping a honourable place for me alongside yourself, on the sedan which guides you to the immortality meadows..´, further and before concluding referring to his works saying `The Atheénée has received my grammar in two volumes and an instructional course for deaf-and-dumb. I send you my best regards announcing to you that my next shipment will include the second edition of my grammar which is being printed.´ Addressed to the verso. Small area of paper loss to the left edge as a result of the opening, not affecting the text. G
