MESSIAEN OLIVIER: (1908-1992) French Composer and Organist. Messiaen was made prisoner of war on the fall of France in 1940 during which time he composed his Quatuor Pour la Fin du Temps ('' Quartet for the Endof Time''). Messiaen incorporated birdsong transcriptions into his music. A very fine signed and inscribed 5 x 7 photograph by Messiaen, the Ingi image showing the French Composer in a close-up profile portrait pose. Signed and inscribed in bold blue ink to the lower white border with an interesting inscription with musical content, Messiaen stating `... avec l´espoir que nos couleurs de rythmes, d´accords, de modes et de timbres, lui apporteront quelques joies musicales... Olivier Messiaen´ (Translation "... with the hope that our colours of rhythms, chords, modes and timbres will bring him some musical joys....Olivier Messaien") Also dated in his hand at the conclusion of the inscription, 15th August 1971.
