Helios appears in both Judaism and Christianity, for example the synagogue mosaics in the Galilee. For similar, cf. De Carthage a Kairouan,

The Byzantine era officially starts in 324 C.E. Nine years earlier at Milan Constantine and Licinius recognized Christianity as an equal religion in the Roman Empire. The Byzantine Empire donned the Roman cloak adopting spiritual values in place of temporal pleasures. The next changing of the guard was in 638 C.E. when Islam replaced Christianity.
