Knaf Renanim.First Edition. Venice 1626.
Piyutim (liturgical poetry), arranged by R. Yosef Yedidyah Carmi, with his commentary.
Composed for recitation on various occasions during the year by the Shomrim LaBoker society of the Usiglio Family Synagogue in the town of Modena, where R. Carmi served as Chazzan. These Piyutim display marked Kabbalistic influences. The societies of Shomrim LaBoker (“Watchers of the Dawn”) would gather regularly to recite Piyutim particularly on Shabbos and Yom Tov and in the pre-dawn of Monday and Thursday mornings. Many mystical secrets are alluded to in the Piyutim.
Includes a lengthy introduction as well as numerous rabbinical approbations on the importance of Piyutim.
