Two Portrait Miniatures of Young Boys, Early 19th Century. Watercolor, unsigned. Each child with short brown hair, blue eyes and wearing a white dress. One portrait with woven hair to the reverse and the other with paper label to the reverse inscribed 'James Waller Hewett / Born Nov. 7, 1804 / Died 1821? / Son of James Waller Hewett / 10th Light Dragoons / Brother of my Grandmother / Frances Hewett Ledlie'. Each framed in a rose gold filled locket case.
Dimensions: Dimensions of each overall approximately 2 1/2 x 2in.
This lot comes from an Upper West Side, New York City collection that will be featured in a short lecture by noted specialist of portrait miniatures, Elle Shushan. Condition:
Not examined out of the frames. Each portrait appears to be in generally good condition overall. The locket cases with typical wear, toning, scuffs and surface scratches throughout.
