A JAPANESE MEIJI PERIOD (1868-1912) MULBERRY WOOD WRITING BOX (SUZURI-BAKO) AND A SMALL PAULONIA WOOD AND LACQUER TEA CEREMONY BOX AND COVER. The first inset with gilt and black lacquer depiction of Hotei, the interior fitted with tray, midoribata inkstone and pen rest, 15.2cm x 24cm, the smaller box lacquered in black and gold with grasses 13cm x 10.2cm
The box with Hotei - with some ink stains to interior, the tray split, with old repair, the pen rest stained. The smaller box with small chips to each corner.
