TWO EARLY 20TH CENTURY JAPANESE HINA NINGYO IMPERIAL DOLLS FOR THE HINAMATSURI FESTIVAL IN ORIGINAL WOODEN BOX. Each modelled seated with lacquered and painted wooden faces and hands, dressed in red and black court robes, she wearing an articulated gilt-metal beaded headdress, each on a bamboo, fabric and lacquered stand, within original wooden box and cover. The figures approx. 30cm high
She cracked and with some chipping and losses to lacquer at neck, losses to her hair, her headdress has various loose (and missing) beads and gilt metal attachments, he with a restuck chip to lacquer at neck, some flaking to lacquered face. Each with some typical losses, slight tears and deterioration to fabric dress. Some similar wear to stands. Typical scratching to box.
