Artist's info: actually Julius Anton Adam, called "Katzen-Adam" resp. Genre and animal painter as well as lithographer and photographer (1852 Munich to 1913 Munich), member of the Munich painter family Adam, son and pupil of the photographer and lithographer Julius Adam the Elder (1821-1874), first trained as a landscape photographer and joined his father's photo studio, 1866-72 as photographer and photo retoucher in Rio de Janeiro, from 1872 pupil at the Munich school of arts and crafts under Michael Echter, 1873-82 studied at the Munich academy under Johann Leonhard Raab and master pupil under Wilhelm von Diez, subsequently intensively occupied with animal painting and here especially with the depiction of cats, 1904 silver medal at the St. Louis, 1905 he received the gold medal for his cat paintings at the International Art Exhibition in Munich, appointed professor, attended exhibitions in Berlin and Munich, active in Munich-Gern, Source: Thieme-Becker, Saur "Bio-Bibliographisches Künstlerlexikon", Bötticher "Malerwerke des 19.
