Ladino: Leil Shimurim, a work for the eve of a bris. Vienna 1819.
Sefer Leil Shimurim, a work on bris milah to be said the night before, by Rabbi Yitzhak Emerilio of Salonika. Edited entirely in Ladino. Yaari Ladino 201.
The content is stories and wondrous actions to read on the night before a bris, called “Leil Shimurim”. The work was edited in Hebrew by Rabbi Yitzhak Emerilio, a sage of Salonika, and in 1820 Rabbi Mordechai ben Yisrael Chaim translated it into Ladino, which was more commonly spoken among Mizrahi Jews. Extremely rare! Never before at auction.
32 leaves. Stains, not bound. Good condition.
