Relógio de suspender em metal dourado
Suspended clock in gilded metal, according to the model of the sculptor Victor Geoffroy-Dechaume. Body with profuse decoration of vegetal scrolls, birds, fantastic animals, dragons and stylized motifs, in gilt and polychrome enamels. Partially hollowed-out box with stylized Persian-style birds and motifs. Dial with white enamel reserves with black Persian (?) numerals. wear, failures, oxidations and defects. Alt. approx. clock: 40 cm.Para modelos semelhantes consultar: De Plâtre et d’Or, Geoffroy-Dechaume sculpteur romantique de Viollet-le-Duc, catálogo da exposição do Museu de Arte e História Louis Senlecq, de 1998, p. 88, fig. 25-26. Peças semelhantes "de estilo persa" de Barbedienne, foram apresentadas na Exposição Universal de Paris em 1867, onde Barbedienne expôs obras inspiradas no Extremo e no Médio Oriente. Adolfe-Victor Geoffroy-Dechaume foi um escultor e ourives francês que, em 1831 ingressou na Escola de Belas Artes de PAris e, em 1847, começou a trabalhar com Auguste Maximilien Delafontaine.

Similar "Persian-style" pieces by Barbedienne were shown at the Paris Universal Exhibition in 1867, where Barbedienne exhibited works inspired by the Far and Middle East. Adolfe-Victor Geoffroy-Dechaume was a French sculptor and goldsmith who, in 1831, entered the School of Fine Arts in Paris and, in 1847, began working with Auguste Maximilien Delafontaine. Palácio do Correio Velho is not responsible for the state of conservation of the clock machines it sells at auction.
