Glikman Gabriel Davidovich (1913-2003). Sculptor.
Pupil of Chagall, Malevich, Pena, Yudovin. Graduated from the Repin Institute of Fine Arts in the workshop of G. Manizer (1947). Among the works he created are portraits of both famous people of a bygone era and the artist's contemporaries: D. Shostakovich, E. Mravinsky, M. Rostropovich, V. Meyerhold, S. Mikhoels, A. Ioffe, Tsvetaeva, Mandelstam, Akhmatova, Pasternak, Kafka, Yevtushenko.
The portrait of Pasternak was exhibited at an exhibition (1968) in the Leningrad House of Composers, which was closed on the third day.
In 1980 he emigrates to Germany. His sculptures have been installed in Moscow, the Moscow region, St. Petersburg, Tsarskoe Selo, Saransk, Saratov, Germany (Dostoevsky's monuments in Wiesbaden and Baden-Baden). Thirty works by Gabriel Glikman are in the collection of Mstislav Rostropovich.
