Rex Hall (1924-2004) untitled abstraction, 1963, woodcut, pencil signed in lower right, good condition, no tears or creases. Rex Early Hall grew up in Pittsburg, Kansas graduating from high school in 1942 and enlisting in the Army. He returned to Pittsburg in 1945 and enrolled in the Pittsburg State Teachers College. He transferred schools and graduated from Washburn College, Topeka in 1949 and spent one year studying at the Kansas City Art Institute. He then began teaching in the public schools in Wichita. He earned an MFA from the University of Wichita in 1958. Hall was co-founder of the IndeX Gallery in Wichita. In 1960, he began teaching art at Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia, retiring from the school in 1985.
