Jimenez, Angelico & Isaias, woodcarving, black lobo alebrije, 2008, signed by both brothers on bottom, fair condition, missing one tooth, broken tail and glued, chip in paint on front right toe, sculpture size: 10.5 x 21.5 x 6.5 inches. Angelico and Isaias Jimenez, Oaxaca, MX are the sons of master woodcarver Manuel Jimenez. Manuel Jimenez is credited with the development of the tradition of exquisite wooden folk art sculptures in Mexico. The Jimenez brother’s work is featured in art books, magazines and is included in museums and private collections worldwide. The work of Angelico and Isaias Jimenez represents the most authentic of these sculptures. Angelico and Isaias have clearly inherited their father’s skills and are well-established and renowned for their work.
