Seward, C.A. - etching, good condition, 4.75x6.75.
"Early Visitors, " an etching signed "CA Seward" lower right and is in good condition measuring 4.75x6.75. C.A. Seward (1884-1939) was a painter, spec. landscapes, etcher. He attended the 1904 St. Louis Exposition and the art he saw there sent him to Topeka where he studied at Reid-Stone Art School and then at Bethany College, Lindsborg. He was a pupil of Birger Sandzen, George M. Stone, David L. Stewart and Albert T. Reid. He worked in his own studio for two years before becoming the Art Director of Western Lithograh Co, from 1923-39. He was particularly known for his work in lithography where he experimented endlessly and helped the medium grow. He also served as art editor for Kansas Magazine from 1909-12 and as director and president of Kansas Federation of Art where he took the lead in offering art circulating exhibitons to Kansas schools at a low cost. He was a founder of the Wichita Art Assoc., the Wichita Art Guild and the Prairie Print Makers.
