Edmond Petitjean "Rue de Village" Painting
Edmond Marie Petitjean (French, 1844-1925). Oil on canvas painting "Rue de Village" depicting a quiet city street landscape. Signed along the lower right. With two labels from Kurt E. Schon Ltd. Fine Art along the verso affixed to the stretcher. An older sticker from L'Art Francois affixed to the stretcher along the verso.
Petitjean became a member of the Salon des Artistes Francais in 1883. He received numerous awards including a First Class medal from the salon in 1884 and a Second Class medal in 1885; a silver medal from the Exposition Universelle in 1889 and a gold medal in 1900; and he was named a Knight in the Legion of Honor in 1892.
