China Trade "Praya Grande at Macao" Painting
Oil on canvas landscape painting by an unknown Chinese artist, ca. 1840. Titled "China Trade: View of the Praya Grande at Macao" depicting a seascape of a shoreline with sailboats.
Provenance: Burrichter-Kierlin Collection; Quester Gallery, Connecticut
Sight; height: 11 1/2 in x width: 21 1/2 in. Framed; height: 16 1/2 in x width: 26 1/2 in.
Condition: There are signs of inpainting throughout. The cracks from craquelure have been inpainted, most heavily in the sky. Some surface marks; there are two diagonal white scuffs along the upper left quadrant of the painting. The painting has been relined. Wear to the frame consistent with age.
