Louis Eugene Lami Cityscape Oil Painting 1830s
Louis Eugene Lami (French, 1800-1890). Oil on panel painting depicting a city street. Signed along lower left. The work is additionally dated along the lower left, though only the first three numbers are able to be discerned, ca. 1830s. Label affixed to verso; an additional label from Phillips auction house affixed to the verso.
Provenance: Phillips, Sale 495, Lot 68; Private Minnesota Collection.
Sight; height: 9 1/2 in x width: 9 1/2 in. Framed; height: 13 1/2 in x width: 13 1/2 in.
Condition: Craquelure is present throughout the piece. Minimal flecks of overpainting present under a UV light. Minute losses to the paint are present, mainly found along the upper right corner. There is discoloration of the paint. There are a few tiny areas of loss to the frame edges near each corner, with an overall light to moderate wear to the frame.
