Early 20th c. Chinese Repousse Brass Box
Circa 1900 Chinese brass box inset with a Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) mottled white jade dragon plaque. With turquoise cabochons and hand-chased lotus blossoms. Overall fantastic quality of craftsmanship. Excellent item highlighting an early jade carving.
Height: 3 1/2 in x width: 5 in x depth: 3 3/4 in.
Condition: A few turquoise cabochons are missing from the lid of the box. Several of the remaining cabochons also have minor imperfections such as oxidation and chipping. The jade overlay has a few tiny cavities, in which dust has collected. The interior of the box has a small scratch, and the shape of the rim is degraded along one edge.
