Rare Chinese Green Glazed Figural Pottery Lamp
Chinese Eastern Han dynasty green glazed pottery lamp. In the form of a figure with their left knee raised and embracing a smaller figure. The glaze has adopted a silvery iridescent sheen due to oxidization.
For a similar example see: Bonham's "Fine Chinese Art, " November 9, 2017, Lot 57.
Height: 12 in x width: 5 in x depth: 4 1/2 in.
Condition: Heavy wear throughout as shown in the listing image. Consistent with age and use, there is silvery gloss loss throughout the piece due to oxidization. Along the upper rim, there is a 1 inch loss that caused uneven surface. To the back of the right arm of the large figure, there are two areas that have a noticeable loss; please see the listing image. There is a similar loss near the rim. Along the underside, there is heavy wear and there is approx. 2 inches long loss. Along the interior, there is a approx. 4 inches long hairline crack that is not restored and that is not visible from the exterior. Under UV light, there is no visible sign of restoration; however, there are two areas that are fluorescent due to adhesive residue- one to the shoulder and the other to the lower back of the figure.
