Maurice Jacques French Countryside Painting 1898
Maurice Jacques (French, 19th/20th c). Oil on canvas painting depicting a countryside cottage, 1898. A woman leads a small child along the path. Signed and dated along the lower margin.
Provenance: Distinguished Corporate Collection, Minnesota.
Sight; height: 21 1/2 in x width: 18 1/4 in. Framed; height: 27 1/2 in x width: 24 in x depth: 3 in.
Condition: There are no signs of restoration or tears visible along the recto. The colors are bold and bright and the surface is stable. The painting appears to have been restretched and it may have been cut down along the verso. There are some paint losses along the painted edges of the canvas along the verso. Some cracking to the paint layer along the extreme edges along the verso. The canvas sits somewhat loosely in the frame. Some wear including a few small losses to the frame.
