Book of Kuniyoshi "47 Ronin" Woodblock Prints
Utagawa Kuniyoshi (Japanese, 1797-1861). Book of ukiyo-e woodblock prints depicting warriors. Bound book containing 26 prints from the series "Seichu gishi den (Stories of the True Loyalty of the Faithful Samurai), " ca. 1847-48. The story is often better known as "The 47 Ronin."
Height: 10 in x width: 7 1/4 in x depth: 1 in.
Condition: There are no major tears, losses, or restorations. Some of the prints are coming loose from their backing, primarily where the pages are turned. Some soiling along the extreme edges of the pages. Some light wear along the creases of each page. Wear to the cover.
