A silver Shekel of Tyre. Obv: Laureate head of Melkarth, the Phoenician Hercules facing right; lion skin around his neck. Rev: Eagle standing left on prow in centre; to left date and club of Hercules below; monogram to right, Phoenician B between legs; Greek inscription around, 'of Tyre the sacred and the city of refuge'. Slightly double struck.
28½ - 32½ mm. 14.34 gr. axis 12. Date CY 47, 79/8 B.C.E. - the reign of Alexander Yannai.
