SOLDIER BUYS HIS UNIFORM WITH CONTINENTAL CURRENCY
War-date A.D.S. of Capt. Eleazer Claghorn, 6th Conn. Regt., 1p. 6 x 4 in., Salisbury, Feb. 10, 1779, an order to the State Commissary at New Milford to issue '...Phinehas Strong of Colo. Meigs Regt...one Pare of Britches, and one pare of Stockings and Shoes his paying for the same...' Water stained, else very good. This was a good deal for Strong, as it allowed him to use his otherwise worthless Continental currency for tangible goods.
