EVA BRAUN'S LACE PANTIES
Rare lace panty once owned by Eva Braun and bearing her monogrammed clothing tags. The panty is button-closed, measuring 25 in. waist, 17.5 in. from the waist to the lowest point on the garment. The front of the garment bears a floral design near each hip, and the lower trim is slightly ruffled. A small embroidered tag with her monogram "E B" in very fine thread has been professionally hand-sewn to the waistline. This design predates Braun's 'butterfly' monogram and is absolutely original to the garment. Fine condition. Our consignor, a 40+ year dealer/collector, purchased this item and other personal possessions belonging to Braun approximately thirty years ago directly from ex-O.S.S. agent Eugene Frankenfeld. Frankenfeld is said to have also uncovered the correspondence between Hitler and Braun at Schloss Fischhorn as well as Hermann Fegelein's papers hidden there. According to memoirs written by Hitler's secretary, Christa Schroeder, Greta Fegelein and Herta Schneider left the shattered Berghof with many trunks of Eva Braun's personal possessions, depositing them at the SS facility at Schloss Fischhorn where Braun, her siblings and her parents often visited. They were of course never recovered by Braun but were instead 'liberated' by Fischhorn at the immediate end of the war. This lot is sold with a scan of Frankenfeld's letter of provenance, given to our consigner upon his acquisition of the items.
