EVA BRAUN'S PINK LACE SLIP
Silk pink lingerie once owned by Eva Braun and bearing her monogrammed clothing tag. The slip is 32 in. long with an ornate flower lace design at the neck forming a v-shape, with the slip supported by two shoulder spaghetti straps. The garment is, of course, sleeveless, and widens toward the hips. The entire garment is fitted with no elastic. A small embroidered tag with her 'butterfly' monogram 'E B' in very fine thread has been professionally hand-sewn to the rear of the collar, and is absolutely original to the garment. There are a few very tiny spots of black staining, mentioned only for accuracy, as they do not detract much from the piece itself. Our consignor, a 40+ year dealer/collector, purchased this item and other personal possessions belonging to Braun approximately thirty years ago directly from ex-O.S.S. agent Eugene Frankenfeld. Frankenfeld is said to have also uncovered the correspondence between Hitler and Braun at Schloss Fischhorn as well as Hermann Fegelein's papers hidden there. According to memoirs written by Hitler's secretary, Christa Schroeder, Greta Fegelein and Herta Schneider left the shattered Berghof with many trunks of Eva Braun's personal possessions, depositing them at the SS facility at Schloss Fischhorn where Braun, her siblings and her parents often visited. They were of course never recovered by Braun but were instead 'liberated' by Fischhorn at the immediate end of the war. This lot is sold with a scan of Frankenfeld's letter of provenance, given to our consigner upon his acquisition of the items.
