War of Independence era army mail: 24 Feb 1949 postmarked stampless "on active service" cover from soldier at KABA 187 (the Gilboa area in the north-center) to addressee in KIRYAT BIALIK; tied on front by the unit's triangular cachet & postmarked via APO 7 (AFFULA) where it would have entered the civilian postal system (the destination is much closer to APO 4 at HAIFA, but APO 7 serviced the sender's unit); opened roughly at back, near-complete; a few folds. On the date of posting Israel and Egypt signed an armistice agreement in Rhodes ending the wartime hostilities between them.
