Latest known usage dates of JERUSALEM & TEL AVIV 'BUY JAFFA ORANGES' machine slogan cancels: Jerusalem strike (Sach F7, LKD 19 OC 40) dated 11 NOV 1940 tied on front of cover to TEL AVIV, franked 14m per period 7m letter rate + 5m additional 20g weight, using 2x 7m Pictoral stamps; backstamped same date, same machine cancel (Sach F9, LKD 3 NO 40) TEL AVIV arrival; opened roughly at top, creased. An early issue of the HLPH bulletin commented on the irony of this trilingual English/French/German cancel being used after the outbreak of WWII.
