cylindrical form. Cf: Amiran, R. Ancient Pottery of the Holy Land, Jerusalem 1969, p. 261, no. 17 for similar. 17 X 8 cm. Minor abrasion.
Iron Age IIC, ca. 8th – early 6th cent BCE. This period witnessed the conquest of the Northern Kingdom of Israel by Assyria under Tiglath Pileser in 723, precipitating a migration of Israelites to Judah creating
a strong state with its capital in Jerusalem albeit short-lived until the destruction of the Temple in 586 by Nebuchadnezzar.
