Mycenaean stirrup jar, ovoid globular body with two handles drawn from the rim to the shoulder, on a flat base.
It has a false neck that is blocked, and decorated with bands delimiting a horizontal chain as well with geometric motifs. Cf: Amiran, R. Ancient Pottery of the Holy Land, Jerusalem 1969, p. 185, no. 10 for identical. 13 x 12 cm. Repaired but otherwise in good condition.
Late Bronze Age ca. 1550-1200 B.C.E. is characterized by prolific trade in the Eastern Mediterranean. That all comes to an abrupt stop with the migrations of the Sea Peoples from the Aegean to the eastern Mediterranean littoral. The parallel story in the Biblical narrative as the exodus from Egypt.
