Letter by Rabbi Yaakov Friedman about the transfer of funds of Rabbi Meir Ba'al HaNes to the poor of the Holy Land in the period of the onset of World War II. Boston, Av [1914]. And a letter by the banker, philanthropist and president of Tzeddakos Rabbi Meir Ba'al HaNes, Reb Baruch Yitzchak Reinhertz.

[1] leaf, official stationery of Rabbi Zalman Yaakov Friedman, 28 cm. On one side of the leaf a letter handwritten and signed by Rabbi Zalman Yaakov Friedman to rabbi Dober Abramowitz. On the other side, a letter handwritten by Reb Baruch Yitzchak Reinhertz.
Rabbi Zalman Yaakov ben Rabbi Baruch Mordechai Friedman (1865-1936) the son-in-law of Rabbi Yaakov Helevi Lifshitz of Kovno. Author of the Seforim Emes VeEmunah, Nachalas Yaakov and Minchas Yaakov. After a year in Holland, moved to Boston in 1892 where he served as Rav of the Jewish communities of Boston. Passed away during a visit to Eretz Yisroel.
Rabbi Baruch Yitzchak Reinhertz - Rav, intellectual and philanthropist, one of the greatest bakers of Boston. In 1873 founded the Beis Avraham community, which was the first community of Jews of Russian and Polish origin in Boston. Later he worked to unite all Jewish communities of Boston. Served as president and chief Gabai of Kupas rabbi Meir Ba'al HaNes in his town. When he wrote these letters, he was an old, sick and weak widower confined to his bed. Therefore, he asked Rabbi Friedman to write to Rabbi Abramowitz instead of him about the system of transferring funds to Erezt Yisroel. The in-law of Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac Scor.
Rabbi Dober Abramowitz (1865-1926) - immigrated to Lithuania from Eretz Yisroel as a child. A disciple of his in-law Rabbi Raphael Moshe Harlap and of Eliezer Dan Ralbag and the rabbis of the Etz Chaim yeshiva. In 1892, immigrated to the USA. Served as Rav in Philadelphia, New York and St. Louis. Secretary of the Va'ad Hakelali Knesses Yisroel in the USA, one of the founder of the Central Relief and Ezras Torah, one of the founders of the union of rabbis in the USA and Canada, president of HaMizrcahi movement in the USA and one of the founders and heads of the Rabbeinu Yitzchal Elchonon Yeshiva in New York. Was the editor of the journal "Beis Va'ad LaChachamim" and the "HaYisraeli" weekly. In 1921. re-immigrated to Eretz Yisroel, was a member of Agudas Yisroel in Jerusalem and headed "Mishmeres HaShabbas" and additional public organizations.
