Four letters regarding kashrut of wine, cocoa butter, restaurants and food for Passover, in Germany. Written in German. From the archive of Rabbi Meir Lerner, Altona-Hamburg.
1. Letter from Ujhely, Hungary to Rabbi Meir Lerner regarding kosher for Passover wine made in Ujhely. The writer asks the Rabbi's permission to market the wine in Germany. He sent two sample bottles.
2. Letters regarding kashrut approval for cocoa butter designated for the Jews of Germany and for export to Odessa, Russia. Lengthy letter written on the 21st of November, 1901. Sent by the manufacturer in Hamburg, who had 5000 kg. of this product. Rabbi Meir Lerner refused to give his approval unless the conditions he wrote in his letter of 25th of November, 1901 were met. Additional letter from the Rabbi dated the 4th of December and another letter from the factory. The correspondence explains the urgent interests of the Jews of Odessa.
3. Letter regarding kashrut certification given to restaurants. C. 1900.
4. Letter from the Rabbinate of Insterburg [?] on the eve of Purim, 1901, regarding kashrut for Passover.
All the letters are in very fine condition.
