Biography
Avraham Naton (Natanzon), (1906-1959). Naton was born in Serbia. Between 1930-1933 he studied in the Academy of Bucharest. He immigrated to Israel in 1935 and settled in Haifa. Between 1937-1938 he participated intensively in the exhibitions held in Haifa. In 1939 he moved to Tel-Aviv. In the beginning of the forties he won the Dizengoff Prize and in 1959 the Milo Prize. He participated in the Venice Biennale in 1952 and in the Sao Paolo Biennale in 1953. In the last years of his life Naton was a prominent member of the artistic movement 'New Horizons' (Ofakim Hadashim). He believed that the artist should free himself from the past in order to march with the time towards the future.
