Pocket Watch - Jewish National Workers' Alliance, United States
Pocket Watch of the Jewish National Workers' Alliance. United States, 1910s.
Illustrated on the face of the watch are two hands, one holding the Zionist Movement flag and the second hand holding a torch (resembling the Statue of Liberty’s torch), a rising sun is seen in the background. Written in red on the left side: "Matnat" (Hebrew; "gift from"), and around it, instead of digits, appear Hebrew characters (blue and red): "Y. N. Arb. Farband" (yidish natzionaler arbeiter farband). On the reverse, engraved: "Matnat Y.N.A.F." (Hebrew), Hook for hanging and a winding stem.
The Jewish National Workers’ Alliance (Nazionaler Arbeiter Farband) was founded in Philadelphia in 1908 to support Jewish workers and inform them about their social and national rights.
Diameter: 4.5 cm. Fair-good condition. Brown stain on the face of the watch, flaking on metal margins. Undamaged mechanism.
