Psak Din of Rabbi Nissin Elyashar and Rabbi Zerach Epstein – Jerusalem, 1918
A shtar of arbitration, and a psak din. With signatures of the litigants, the witnesses and the rabbis, Rabbi Nissim Elyashar and Rabbi Zerach Epstein. Jerusalem, Cheshvan-Kislev 1918.
The document concerns the great financial difficulties of the Jewish banks in Jerusalem during World War I and the collapse of the Ottoman rule in Eretz Yisrael. The arbitration is between merchants Yitzchak and Yoseph Elyashar who also represent their partner Ben Tzion Koronil, and the partners Ya'akov Aseskowitz and Mr. Korkidy. The litigants accepted the arbitration of "Rabbi Nissim Elyashar and Rabbi Zerach Epstein to present before them their claims and they will judge according to their understanding…".
Leaf 28.5 cm. written in Rashi script on both sides. Good-fair condition, wear to margins and in paper folds.
